About this Specialty Coffee
The Coronel Pilco family has been preserving the dry tropical forest unique to Hacienda La Florida for over two centuries. It's a legacy that Fabricio and Ramiro Coronel Pilco are proud to continue, alongside their newfound passion for specialty coffee.
Their journey began in 2015 with the planting of Catucai, a variety known for its resistance but less so for its cup profile. It wasn't until later that they fully understood the intricacies of the specialty coffee industry and realized the need to purchase processing equipment to fully express the potential of their terroir and variety.
Despite the initial setback, Fabricio and Ramiro pressed on and continued their journey of experimentation. In 2017, they planted Typica Mejorado and Bourbon Sidra, varietals that have thrived in their agroforestry system.
The result of their hard work and dedication is evident in the exceptional cup profile of their coffee. From the rich soil to the unique microclimate, every aspect of Hacienda La Florida's environment plays a role in producing their award-winning coffee.
Their commitment to preserving the environment is also evident in their sustainable farming practices. From conserving water to using natural fertilizers, the Coronel Pilco family is dedicated to reducing their environmental impact and protecting the delicate ecosystem around them.
Hacienda La Florida's story is one of perseverance, innovation, and a deep appreciation for the land. With each cup of coffee, the Coronel Pilco family shares their passion for preserving the environment and producing exceptional coffee that truly reflects the unique terroir of their farm.
