Elida farm located within Volcan Baru National Park, a protected ecological reserve and sanctuary for exotic plants, birds, butterflies and mammals. The Baru volcano is one of the highest volcanoes in Central America at 3.475m above sea level with an area of 14.000ha and 7 different climate zones ending on the elevation.
This unique world conditions at which Elida coffee grows can be listed as follows: Ultra high elevation, inside the well protected and biodiverse Baru Volcano Park, rich volcanic soils, unique microclimate, low temperatures, microorganism beneficial to coffee trees, virgin native loud rain forest surrounds the coffee trees, low temperature at nights (in the highest part in occasions below /50F) which elongates e production period of the tree and the ripening of the fruit which is crucial attribute for development of the bean.
This variety is the Geisha bean. Geisha originates from the Ethiopian village of Gesha and is known for its sweetness and floral taste. Their trees produce small amounts of insanely aromatic coffee. Geisha coffee is routinely auctioned for high prices due to it’s flavor and prestige.
