About this Specialty Coffee
In the dynamic realm of specialty coffee, innovation reigns supreme. At The Espresso Lab, we are not just enthusiasts; we are trailblazers committed to pushing the boundaries of excellence. We thrive on the allure of discovery, and this year, that allure brings us to the doorsteps of CATA Export. This distinguished venture, founded by the illustrious duo Catalina and Pierre, exemplifies a journey from artistry to a deep-rooted love for coffee. Leaving behind successful careers, these two embarked on an adventure from the bustling coffee shops of the UK to the verdant terrains of Colombia, a testament to their unwavering commitment to their newfound craft.
But what truly sets CATA Export apart is not just their dedication, but their ethos. In Colombia, instead of just sourcing coffee, Catalina and Pierre venture into untouched terrains, reaching out to farmers in newly emerging coffee regions, often vulnerable and untapped. Their unique approach focuses not just on trade, but on fostering genuine, heartfelt partnerships with these local communities. They are not mere traders but are relationship builders, curating the crème de la crème of micro, nano, and pico lots. It is with immense pride that we, The Espresso Lab, become the maiden heralds of their exquisite coffees in the UAE and the broader MENA region.
The universe has a serendipitous way of weaving tales of passion, and ours with CATA Export is no different. Thanks to a fortuitous introduction by Alex, our founder Ibrahim Al Mallouhi had the privilege of meeting Pierre Fargetton. As conversations flowed and operations unfurled, it became clear that CATA Export's offerings were nothing short of spectacular. The cupping sessions stood as testimony to their unparalleled quality. While the aura of mystery surrounds the specifics of the lot we are introducing, one thing is crystal clear – it promises to be nothing less than phenomenal.
