La Palma & El Tucán envisages in itself an environment that screams sustainability. Deriving inspiration from the co-existence of the Toucans and Palm trees, these farms were designed to be innovative to achieve just that. La Palma & El Tucán also invite their customers to see the farmlands for themselves so that they can experience coffee cultivation first hand.

The farm's vision of agriculture and sustainability can be seen clearly. The installations across farms entice the visitors and make them come to the place more and more often. Sustainability is given priority thus vegetable compost pits and overall biodiversity, fertilization techniques, and all other aspects are given high importance.

The Geisha variety known for causing an explosion of flavours is what is grown in these lands since 2012. Cultivated for the first time in the lands of Ethiopia in the 1930s, this varietal quickly became people’s favourite. The temperature of the lands ranges between 9-27 °C while the rainfall of 1,300 ml per year results in the perfect ecosystem for coffee trees. Currently, there are 10,332 plants distributed among five plots. These plots are located between 1,650 and 1,800 meters above sea level.

The most tricky and difficult part of the process is the drying process which becomes extremely difficult due to the high humidity in the air. The farms opt for special techniques and modern methods to achieve their superior results.

The Ethiopian mountains in the last few years were faced with the phenomenon of El Nino. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the humidity in the air fell. This made the task drying of seeds easy. The farm now has ventured into the drying seed business, taking full advantage of the phenomenon.
