About this Specialty Coffee

For us at The Espresso Lab, Finca Hartmann holds a special place in our hearts. Our founder, Ibrahim Al Mallouhi, has visited this captivating estate multiple times, each journey deepening our bond with the Hartmann family. Our very first encounter in 2017 was a revelation. Ibrahim was instantly enamored by the Hartmanns' profound passion for coffee, leading to The Espresso Lab serving our inaugural lot from Finca Hartmann that same year.

We've since watched with admiration as Finca Hartmann clinched the coveted 'Best of Panama' award, further solidifying their reputation in the coffee world. It's their exceptional Geisha variety, grown under the shade and nurtured by a family's dedication, that makes every cup an experience. We've been privileged to procure special lots for The Espresso Lab - Roastery, ensuring that our customers savor the rich heritage and unmatched quality of Finca Hartmann's produce. For every coffee aficionado, Finca Hartmann isn't just a destination; it's a journey into the soul of coffee.

Finca Hartmann has roots tracing back to Alois Strasil Hartmann from the late 19th century Austrian-Hungarian empire, the Hartmann legacy now spans three generations. Each member of the family immerses themselves passionately in various facets of the farm, from cultivation to quality control. With an ethos deeply embedded in working harmoniously with nature, they uphold a vision where the land is nurtured, not exploited.

Their farms, positioned between 1,300 and 2,000 meters above sea level, are embraced by nearly 100 hectares of forest reserves. These reserves, sharing borders with Parque Nacional de La Amistad, are filled with ancient rainforest trees under whose shade the coffee thrives. Their belief is simple: respect nature, replant native trees, and maintain an environment that ensures a sustainable, high-quality coffee production cycle for years to come.

Finca Hartmann is not merely about retaining traditions; it's also about innovating for the future which coincidentally aligns with The Espresso Lab’s vision. The Hartmanns, ever the pioneers, are venturing into experimenting with new coffee varietals previously unknown in Panama, and at The Espresso Lab we always strive to introduce these within the UAE and our region.
