About this Specialty Coffee

Tucked into Panama's verdant landscapes, Altieri Specialty Coffee stands not just as a beacon of coffee passion and precision but as a symbol of what we at The Espresso Lab deeply resonate with. An embodiment of commitment, quality, and the unmatched Panamanian terroir, Altieri's journey parallels our own pursuit for coffee perfection.

The narrative began with Eugene Altieri, an immigrant with entrepreneurial ambitions, who arrived in Panama to become an integral part of its vibrant tapestry. His dream now flourishes as Altieri Specialty Coffee, an industry paragon for specialty coffee and an epitome of vision and dedication that we at The Espresso Lab wholeheartedly believe in.

Altieri’s discerning investment in Boquete's fertile terrains has resulted in two exquisite farms that have earned international acclaim. The Alto Lino farm, a 12-hectare gem, boasts altitudes between 1,300 and 1,375 meters, offering the perfect home for the Caturra and Catuai varieties. The expansive 45-hectare Callejón Seco farm, resting on the Barú Volcano's slopes, produces the coveted Typica, Catuai, and Geisha. This particular farm, enveloped by the National Park's cloud forests, imbues each bean with a signature Altieri flavor — a taste that we at The Espresso Lab cherish and celebrate.

It's not just their beans but their harvesting methods that inspire our trust and admiration. Altieri’s commitment to handpicking each cherry at its peak ripeness mirrors the dedication we witness and aspire for in the coffee industry. Their state-of-the-art processing, encompassing sun-drying on African beds and innovative fermentation techniques, showcases a harmonious blend of tradition and progression.

The Espresso Lab recognizes the importance of post-harvest care. Altieri's advanced resting warehouses, equipped with cutting-edge humidity and temperature controls, are testimony to their unwavering commitment. Their meticulous approach to microlot traceability and their embrace of experimental processes, introduced in 2020, underscore a vision and commitment that aligns seamlessly with our ethos.

In Altieri Specialty Coffee, we see more than a producer; we see a partner in crafting unparalleled coffee experiences, one exceptional sip at a time.
