About this Specialty Coffee
A continuation of the prestigious Finca Hartmann lineage, Hartmann Reserve belongs to one of the most celebrated coffee families in Panama. Established in the early 1900s in the rainforest highlands of Tierras Altas, the Hartmann family farms including Guarumo, Ojo de Agua, Santa Clara, Mi Finquita, and the newest, Gato Grande have consistently produced auction winning lots at the Best of Panama.
Hartmann Reserve is the latest expression of this legacy, led by Ratibor Jr and Tessie Hartmann. Drawing inspiration from Ratibor Sr’s collection of indigenous artifacts, the project integrates an archaeological lens into the cultivation of coffee. It approaches coffee as a living record of both cultural memory and natural history, merging craftsmanship with deep rooted connection to place.
This perspective drives Hartmann Reserve to innovate beyond tradition. The project experiments boldly with processing methods, fermentation styles, and micro lot separation, all while remaining rooted in the natural rhythms of the farm. These innovations are not just technical, they are intentional acts of storytelling, translating the character of each plot into expressive and unexpected cup profiles.
