Born in Sidama Bensa, Tamiru grew up surrounded by some of Ethiopia's most celebrated coffee-growing landscapes. Recognizing the limited recognition and rewards often received by smallholder farmers, he founded Alo Coffee Export with a mission to bring greater visibility, value, and sustainability to the communities that cultivate these exceptional coffees.
In 2021, Tamiru's commitment to quality was recognized on the world stage when he secured first place at the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence. This achievement highlighted not only his dedication and expertise but also the extraordinary potential of Sidama's high-altitude terroir.
Located in Alo Village at elevations reaching 2,400 meters above sea level, the washing station serves farmers from surrounding communities who carefully cultivate and harvest their coffee cherries.
