About the Producer
José Manuel “Pocho” Gallardo Méndez is one of Panama’s most respected specialty coffee producers and the driving force behind Finca Nuguo in Renacimiento, Chiriquí. Nestled between 1,750 and 1,980 meters above sea level, the farm is renowned for producing exceptional Geisha coffees that showcase remarkable floral complexity, vibrant fruit character, and refined sweetness.
Building on a family coffee-growing tradition that began in the 1960s, Pocho introduced Geisha to the Nuguo section of the farm and developed it into one of Panama’s most celebrated coffee estates. His meticulous attention to cultivation, harvesting, and fermentation has earned international recognition among coffee professionals, roasters, and competition champions.
Finca Nuguo benefits from a unique high-altitude microclimate, cool mountain temperatures, frequent mist, and fertile volcanic soils. These conditions slow cherry maturation, allowing greater flavor development and producing coffees known for their clarity, elegance, and complexity.
Today, José Manuel Gallardo’s award-winning Geisha coffees continue to represent the pinnacle of Panamanian specialty coffee, offering distinctive notes of florals, tropical fruit, and honey-like sweetness that captivate coffee enthusiasts around the world.
