About this Specialty Coffee
Jean Paul Langenstein represents the new generation of Carmen Estate, carrying forward a legacy that began in the 1960s with founders Efrain and Carmen Franceschi. Nestled in the Paso Ancho district of Panama, the estate has earned global recognition for its meticulous cultivation of Geisha and other high elevation varietals, consistently ranking among the finest in the Best of Panama.
In 2024, under Jean Paul’s leadership, Carmen Estate secured three coveted positions in the Top 5, placing 2nd and 4th in the Geisha Natural category and 4th in Varietals. These achievements followed an outstanding 2023 performance, where the estate claimed 1st Place in the Geisha Washed category, along with Top 10 ranks in Geisha Natural and Varietals.
Such recognition is not sudden. For more than half a century, the Franceschi family has shaped Carmen Estate into one of Panama’s most revered producers. The estate’s position near the Chiriqui Viejo River, coupled with its high altitude and unique microclimates, gives rise to coffees of distinct character, refined, expressive, and consistently elegant in the cup.
From careful cherry selection to precise processing, Carmen Estate embodies an unwavering pursuit of excellence. Their continued presence at the top of international competitions affirms not just a commitment to quality but a deeper philosophy rooted in respect for land, craft, and legacy.
